The 9 Steps I’m Taking to Start Enjoying Social Media Again

social media

It’s been almost 13 years since I started using social media. I hopped on because I was just starting my business and I had signed up for a course on social media (I really wish I had taken screenshots of how things looked back then).

For the most part, it’s been a really positive journey.

You used to be able to drive a lot of traffic to your website with social media… it felt a bit like what the gold rush must have felt like (minus the riches ????).

Each new feature felt like the wild west and massive possibility.

As these platforms have “grown-up” so-to-speak, there’s no doubt they’ve acted out as a rebellious teenager (trying to get away with things they shouldn’t be doing). Add to that a pandemic, political upheaval, and everything else the world has experienced in the past year and it’s time for a change.

I found myself really burned out and avoiding social media outside of doing the bare minimum.

I’ve decided it’s time for a change.

I’m choosing to look at it all differently and for the first time in a long time feel excited about using social media again.

Happy creating!

How to Create Referral Emails that Encourage Your Subscribers to Share

Email is still one of the best forms of communication online. In addition to communicating with your subscribers (like we’re doing here ????), you can also use email to grow your list and engage your subscribers.

Revue vs. Substack: What Writers Need to Know

Last week’s announcement of Twitter buying newsletter platform Revue generated a lot of content around newsletter platforms. Substack has been leading the way for a while, but here’s why Revue might be a better option.

Better Together…

Upscale

Another great free tool from StickerMule. Enlarge any image and increase the resolution (quality) of any photo or graphic instantly.

Chirr App

An easy way to create a Twitter thread. Express longer ideas into multiple tweets.

This week’s episode of my podcast was inspired by a couple of articles on “niching” down. This isn’t an argument for or against niching down, it’s more about getting clear on what you want to do and going all in. Maybe it’s time you created your own niche?
