4-3-21, ready or not, here it comes… Welcome to the start of Q2!

How did your Q1 go?  Did you do some year-end planning and get a jump on things in Q1? Or did you spend Q1 reflecting and planning the year ahead?  Maybe it blew by so fast you can’t even believe it is already April.

Me? Oh, you know… there was planning, but things didn’t go as planned. Imagine that.

I can’t believe I am about to quote Taylor Swift, but it’s a good one:
“Just because you made a good plan, doesn’t mean that’s what’s gonna happen.”

Whatever you did or didn’t do, it’s OK.
Things change, including our plans. A good plan is a good start, but to finish what you started, you might have to toss your plan aside and make a new one.

Especially this Q2 which is at the center of a confluence of things — April Fools Day. 4-3-21. A new moon. Everything points to new beginnings

A fresh start feels inspiring, doesn’t it? And creating a plan provides the necessary foundation for our new 12-week year. Now, where to begin…

4-3-21, Ready or not, here it comes…

Happy creating!

Things worth sharing…

Long-form content is making a big comeback
I wasn’t aware it had gone anywhere in the first place, but this piece by Arik Hanson is interesting. SEMrush found that content with more than 7,000 words received an average of 302 unique page views, which was six times more than those with 300-600 words (59 unique page views). What’s more, posts with a word count of 300-600 received the fewest number of shares on average (20), while articles with more than 7,000 words received the most (30).

The Future of Private Podcasting
The whole concept of private podcasting is fascinating to me and it’s easier to do now more than ever. In this episode of Audience, our friend Matt Madeiros discusses what it is, the future of private podcasting, and how it impacts the industry.

LinkedIn adds Creator mode, video profiles, and in partnership with Microsoft, new career training tools
LinkedIn is officially launching a new “Creator” mode, a more refined but also more democratic version of the company’s Influencer network (anyone can be a Creator if they so choose). It’s also carving out more of a solid place for freelancers on the platform, by way of a new Service page attached to your profile.
