If you had told me when I started my business that I would fall in love with email marketing (and now copywriting), I would have thought you were nuts.
It wasn’t that I didn’t like writing, I simply hadn’t done much of it (outside of writing papers in college) and didn’t think of myself as a writer. I could do what needed to be done, but I was pretty indifferent about it.
As soon as you decide you’re going to start marketing online you inevitably come across someone telling you to “build your list!” or, thanks to all the bro-marketers, “the money is in the list!”
As cheesy as it sounds, it’s true.
I have very few regrets when it comes to what I’ve done… I tend to lean more towards regretting the things I didn’t do. And in this case, my regret would be not focusing on email marketing sooner.
We were recently asked by a reader why we thought email marketing was so valuable (I’m paraphrasing) as most people he knew weren’t reading their emails anymore (outside of B2B).
Since we believe that #EverythingIsContent, answering this question with a blog post seemed like the logical thing to do.
While this is pretty anecdotal, I’ve included some pretty powerful stats that will have you thinking differently about email marketing.
